interactive vs non-interactive split

The workflow i am using is, I start with the diff view, then select split (S), then use H or R to select the hunk or region and then s to execute the split. What is the -i option about?

-i uses the default ui.diff-editor, while --tool uses the specified tool. In theory, we should be able to use tools other than Emacs for this, but I haven’t implemented that yet.

Considering we are within emacs, i was expecting it to open some kind of emacs buffer (ediff or something) without any configuration. a global Split transient menu with -i selected will open a ediff window which allow us to select line/hunks?. Right now running split command from log-mode doesn't do much

That makes sense. In v0.6.1, the --interactive flag for split, squash, and restore will use ediff.
