Snapshot/Presets

Hi, thanks for this really handy tool. I believe it is one of its kind in the open source universe.
I'm thinking of implementing a snapshot/preset function including xml exports.
Do you have any hints where to start or where you think it'll would make sense to start my trial and error?

Hi,

There are multiple options for implementing Snapshots or presets.

You can look into the Companion module if you want to implement en external solution.
This would also be a start to implement Salvos out of the Box.

I think an added view for storing a connection state or store a salvo would be nice in nmos-crosspoint.
All senders and all receivers are stored in the crosspoint abstraction with unique IDs (derived from nmos or generated, not for the user) on top of this there are numbers for each sender and receiver which can be changed by the user. For example if you replace a gateway or camera.

For a Snapshot you should be able to select if it is based on the IDs or on the numbers.

Internal i would prefer storing in JSON as this is the native format. So exporting to JSON instead of XML would be nice.

When you dive into the code of the crosspoint view (ui), you can easyly see how the connections are calculated from the crosspoint state. After making a connection (without auto take) you will see a list of prepared connections in the bottom right above the Take button. Check the code for this how these connections are stored and sent to the server.

For storing and sending by numbers, check the companion module.

For easy start it should be easy to add this by only adding a UI Module and store states to files or localStorage in Browser.
For sync with other clients you could implement config storage. Just use the storage of aliases as a example.
