This is a proposal and not the final agreement between Black Python Devs and Djangonaut space.

We're partnering with Djangonaut Space in their process for selecting candidates for their cohort.

The connection between Djangonaut Space and Black Python Devs

Djangonaut Space and Black Python Devs are joined in helping to create a healthy and sustainable community in the Python ecosystem.

We're also fortunate that many of Djangonaut Space's leadership are also recognized Python and Django community leaders and members of Black Python Devs or recognized allies of our community.

Diversity By Inclusion (A Seat at the Table)

This program works to increase the inclusion of Black Python Devs members in the Djangonaut Space Program. We applaud the tremendous work and commitment from Djangonaut space to ensure a diverse collection of individuals in their cohorts and our goal is to increase the participation of our members in the application process.

We've learned that by giving Djangonaut Space a seat at our table and vice versa, we increase participation and selection of Black Python Devs members without having to create carveouts.

Commitments from Black Python Devs

• Black Python Devs will create space for Djangonaut Space leaders and program graduates to present on the program PRIOR to each cohort.
• Black Python Devs will actively promote and encourage interested members to apply to the program.

Commitments from Djangonaut Space

• Djangonaut Space will have one Black Python Devs representative outside of the Djangonaut Space leadership chain serve on the selection committee.
• Djangonaut Space will present to the Black Python Devs community PRIOR to the cohort application window.

• Does the person that join need to have completed the program in the past?

Previous Program Idea and Why it is not preferred

Each cohort we will recommend one person that will serve as a validation to someone interested in participating in the program.

This idea we not preferred based on the exclusive nature of selecting one person out of many qualified persons. Our preferred method aligns follows our core value of Diversity By Inclusion getting more folks in the community involved in the program itself.
