Forwarding logs from console.* to Datadog

Hey,

Is there a way to forward all logs from console.* to Datadog?

Currently, it seems that only console.errors are automatically forwarded, but I'd like to also forward console.info, console.debug, etc. I've search the whole documentation and TypeScript sources, and couldn't find any way to achieve this.

Note that this is something the Browser SDK supports out-of-the-box thanks to the forwardErrorsToLogs config property.

Am I missing something? 🙏

Hi @antoinerey, sorry for the late reply.

You are right, console.error calls are the only ones being forwarded as those are being captured by RUM's error tracking module.

And no, as it is there's not an automatic way to forward all calls to console.x to Datadog.

However If you'd like to forward all console.log/info/debug calls on Datadog you'd need to create a wrapper function that will first call DdLogs.info/debug and then call the original console.log/info with the original parameters. Something like this:

const originalConsoleLog = console.log;

console.log = function (...params) {
  Ddlogs.info(params);
  originalConsoleLog.apply(console, params);
};
