protocol relative url's for badges

I just tried to copy/paste the markdown content, paste it in a readme on github and when it renders the file - it seems to loose the protocol relative portion of the URL.

Any thoughts?

Oh no... I just realised github.io doesn't support https:// :disappointed:

Looks like we need to find another URL.

Maybe it is time to hustle a CDN somewhere.
