I know nothing about programming so if this makes no sense that's why, but I had an idea a while ago. What if bsnes could load files that tell the emulator to act in certain ways, like increasing ram for a specific game or acting in ways a real snes wouldn't be able to. This would allow widescreen games more possibilities.

There are the Setting Override files: https://github.com/DerKoun/bsnes-hd#setting-override-files
Those can double VRAM. The Setting is just not publicly documented, yet.
If you had something different in mind or there are relevant settings missing in those let me know.
If you are looking for additional extensions to the bsnes-hd hardware emulation I suggest we discuss those on Discord before formalizing them here.
