Hi @Falconbird18 could you lay out the changes you made? The only ones that I see is making everything more rounded. |

I personally disagree with you, but I will be happy to improve the UI in a way you like. If that means discarding my changes and reverting back to the old UI and going from there, that's ok with me. |

Things that slightly concern me about this:

Yeah, I do agree with you that at least the rounding I have done is too much. |

performance is the most important -> shouldn't rounding corners, using borders, using shadows or using too much CSS style. |

I would like to chime in as someone with a visual disability. You are going for the clean, unbroken look here and I get it. Smoothing out UIs is all the rage right now and it DOES genuinely look nice. However, those little drop shadows and bits of separation are what help me distinguish parts of the screen. Having that slight color difference between the headers, main area, and scrollbar immediately tell me that those are all separate elements that are potentially intractable or, at least, serve different purposes. Flat UIs make it very difficult for me to tell where the header ends and the viewing area begins or if the header even exists. You may not think that's a big deal, but looking at a window and not being able to visually understand the layout is extremely frustrating. The constantly visual scrollbars also help with this. I can immediately tell that this part of the screen is a separate element and scrollable. It also helps me line up the mouse with where I need to be to click/drag. I get what you're going for but, for me, UIs like this can be really frustrating and diminish my user experience. |

@GCAT01 I’ve been thinking about the UI design (especially after taking a graphic design course), and I think the main issue I have with it is the lack of consistency. For instance, the top bar and the refresh button have shadows, but very few other elements do. To improve the UI, I think we should settle on a clear design style and apply it uniformly across the interface. Right now, I’m experimenting in Inkscape to explore some ideas. |

Here is my design: You don't need shadows or backgrounds or borders to be able to tell things apart. For example, you can clearly tell that each video on the list is a separate thing despite there not being any clear boundary between them. You are able to distinguish them simply because of spacing. Same with other stuff - group things that are related and space them from things that aren't. No backgrounds needed. And you don't need to know where exactly the top bar ends. Why would you need that? You just need to be able to distinguish buttons and the search bar - the things you are going to interact with. We don't do this just because it looks nice. It's also more efficient (easier to read) once you get used to it. That's why most modern apps looks like this. Try it for 10 days (I can post a git patch for Freetube 0.21.3), satisfaction guaranteed 😀. |

its good to know that i have zero coding and zero designing and low english skills, but im a heavy freetube user so ill share my thoughts: i've read every conversations about the play/pause button size and opacity for desktop and i think it should be disabled by default. What strikes me first about the ui is this shadow around the update line. I also think the category should be centered and written in upper case to fit the rest. No joke it took me almost 30 minutes to edit my screenshot on gimp to make my opinion a little bit more clear Since i never post on github, if anyone from the dev community read me : Thank you for the work ! |

I feel like the current Freetube UI could use more work to polish it. Here is what I have been working on. Please give feedback and comments!
