Since GitBook does not provide direct access to inject the HTML verification tag into the section of your site, you must use one of Google Search Console’s alternative verification methods that doesn't require direct code editing. The best methods for GitBook are:
In Google Search Console, select the Domain property option (or choose URL-prefix and select the DNS TXT record method). Google will provide a unique TXT record string. Log in to your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, etc.) or DNS provider. Add a new TXT record to your domain's DNS settings, using the string provided by Google. Wait a few hours for the change to propagate, then click Verify in Search Console.
Your GitBook site must have the Google Analytics integration active (check your Space Settings). In Google Search Console, add your site as a URL-prefix property. Select the Google Analytics verification method. You must be using the same Google account for both Search Console and the Google Analytics property owner. Search Console will check for the presence of the Analytics snippet and verify ownership. |
