I would like to request that GitBook offer a wider selection of high-quality, open-source CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) fonts.
For users working with CJK languages, font availability is crucial for readability, typographic consistency, and accurate rendering across platforms. Many existing GitBook themes rely on limited or non-optimized fallback fonts, which can lead to inconsistent display, spacing issues, or suboptimal visual quality.
Supporting more open-source CJK fonts—such as Noto Serif CJK, Noto Sans CJK, Source Han Serif, and Source Han Sans—would greatly improve the reading and authoring experience for a large portion of GitBook’s global user base. These fonts also provide excellent cross-platform compatibility and permissive licenses, making them ideal for integration.
Expanding GitBook’s CJK font options would significantly enhance internationalization support and ensure a more consistent and professional typography experience for multilingual documentation.
Thank you for considering this enhancement.
