why does dialer connect to internet?

can i know why does the dialer connect to internet?
even the spam filter is off or disabled
even the contact app

downloaded from google store , tested on samsung and oneplus phones

I have noticed with the older versions of right dialer , even they have the unlock free features
by the way ,i'm using AlRight Phone ,tring to support the project
why don't you add a link for paypall ?
it's pretty easy (paypall), to support the project
