Cross-linux error messages

Max Hebditch noticed that the pygtk module produces errors such as

/$HOME/$USER/batchgit/indicator/indicator.py:115: Warning: /tmp/buildd/glib2.0-   2.36.4/./gobject/gsignal.c:2475: signal `child-added' is invalid for instance `0x231f0d0' of type `GtkMenu'

self.ind.set_menu(menu)

on Linux mint Debian edition. Obviously if this is ever to be used by other people this should work on all stable Linux distros at least.

Can reproduce with standard debian install, may be related to this bug error.
