Add an enable/disable config to hide the view without disabling the extension?

Would it be possible/ useful to have a setting to enable/disable the gerrit-view plugin at the workspace level? i.e. by default if you flip the enable bit the plugin won't display the UI and won't prompt you to enter a git server in the global configuration? I generally only want to enable the gerrit-view on certain projects (high volume projects tend to slow down my startup times) and it is a little bit clunky to go through the "only enable this extension for this workspace" approach.

Do you mean having a 'enabled' setting and then setting it to true/false in the workspace settings? Or a list of workspaces that it should be enabled for?

I mean an enabled setting that could be set to true/false based on which workspace I am in.
