The Sunken Gardens were established in 1911 when a plumber named George Turner, Sr. purchased the six acres that would later become a world famous botanical attraction. Using an elaborate maze of clay tiles, he drained an ancient lake on the property, leaving a rich muck soil that was ideal for his favorite hobby... gardening. Neighbors so enjoyed strolling through Mr. Turner's garden, that by the early 1930's he was charging a nickel for tours. George's wife, Mrs. Eula Turner shared her husbands love of plants and played a large role in establishing the gardens as a landmark. Their children and grandchildren continued the family vision and created this unique tropical garden with its flowing ponds.

The Dali Museum The Dali Museum (St. Petersburg, Florida) has been the unofficial heart of fine arts in the Tampa Bay area since its opening in 1982. The debut of the new building in January 2011 has contributed to the cultural renaissance, a movement that has experienced an explosion of artistic institutions and outlets that both residents and visitors to the destination can enjoy.

The Dali Museum celebrates the life and work of Salvador Dali (1904-1989) and features works from the artist's entire career. The collection includes over 2,400 works from every moment and in every medium of his artistic activity, including oil paintings, many original drawings, book illustrations, artists' books, prints, sculpture, photos, manuscripts and an extensive archive of documents. Founded with the works collected by A. Reynolds and Eleanor Morse, the Museum has made significant additions to its collection over the years, celebrating the life and art of one of the most influential and innovative artists in history.
