Banned From NixOS for.. ?

This issue is submitted in reaction to recent events in NixOS, the changing environment there and to provide a different point of view on the highlighted observations.
It is separated into two parts where first part is trying to be an information gathering exercise and best effort interpretation in an objective way (contribution welcomed for anything that could be written better) and the second part is an opinion and some things that i wanted to say on the subject.

Timeline

• 2nd July 2021 - First Contribution to Nixpkgs localBinInPath: Initial commit NixOS/nixpkgs#128271
• 8th Aug 2021 - Created an issue highlighting that shell scripts used in nixpkgs are failing shellcheck and are in general not sane QA: The used scripts in nixpkgs are not sane NixOS/nixpkgs#133088
• 9th Aug 2021 - Migrated on GNU Guix GNU/Linux
• 8th June 2023 - Revisited NixOS
• 1st July 2023 - First contribution after migrating on Guix
  ...
• 15th Aug 2024 - Banned

Hey Kreyren,

I'm contacting you on behalf of the NixOS moderation team to inform you that we decided to permaban you.

Your agressive attitude on Matrix and aggressive feedback on https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/324911 is unacceptable. 

You having strong opinion about where Nixpkgs should be headed is fine, however the very confrontational way you are pushing them to others is hurting the project. FOSS is a collaborative team play game. When you are engaging with others in such a confrontational way, you're costing them some unecessary emotional tolll. The same points could be conveyed in a non confrontational way, helping the overall project instead of plain hurting it.

You've been issued a temporary ban on May 22 for this very same behaviour. Ban you've been responding by https://github.com/Kreyren/kreyren/issues/108. It seems like you are not willing to take any feedback into account in that area.

From there, we don't see much we can do appart from setting you aside from the community indefinitely to prevent further damange and frustrations.

Like it think it's very evident that the NixOS community has a lot of issues in terms of culture, organization and management rn and i want to like collect data about my ban so that hopefully it can be used as a positive encouragement to do something about it or for me to learn if my actions were wrong in some way.

I am not aware of being banned from any community beyond NixOS rn. I used to be banned from gentoo and lutris, but afaik those bans are no longer in effect for like way over a year.

well i am banned from bedrock linux, but that is a single developer distro and it was over disagreenment with the design that the dev rather banned me than being open to discussing it with me and for what i needed to use it at the time i forked it into a standalone distro.
