    @Twoface227

    Just wanted to add that I also have the same issue. I have tried via Japanese laptop keyboard and a full sized Japanese 106 with keypad. Have verified that the host(s) have proper Japanese keyboard setup and works correctly locally. Have verified that the Japanese layout is being sent from Moonlight to Sunrise, as other keys non-US standard layout keys are being passed correctly - ie @, ", etc.

    The following keys are not being sent over by Moonlight.

    • yen/pipe key
    • backslash/underbar
      As for the muhenkan, henkan, and (hiragana, katakana, romaji) keys, I do not use them, so I have no basis for a testing method on them.

    I have tested this in Cinnamon in X11 and Wayland, with fcitx completely disabled, and unchecking "Always Send Scancodes" in Sunshine. It does not seem that these keys are being sent by Moonlight at all. Did some web searching which brought me here. Asked the AIs, but Gemini and Grok are saying this is due to how Moonlight is processing the scancodes, and is most likely dropping them "... due to Japanese JIS keyboards having extra keys that don’t exist in the same physical positions on a US layout." The work-arounds suggested, require remapping the keys on both client and host sides, but this feels like its something that should already work in Moonlight.

    Please let us know what information you need so that we can help getting these keys working natively through Moonlight.
