Main focus currently is their large scale event on March 26, 2015 that has a projected audience of over 3000 people attending
The event is structured as a 3 day event where there will be a 12 hour hack-a-thon, panel speakers, skills workshop and Hive pop up
Funding has been a major issue for this group as they have pulled Amira, Michelle as well as myself into the conversation. Currently the Hive Pilani team is asking for $3,500 from the council to fund local representation.
Vineel has stepped into help moderate the conversation and offer cost-saving tips to help bring down the budget which would help get it approved by the rep council
Event Update
There are about 40 activites/session over the 3 days and we are currently working to get a write up to surface before event, tweet, blog post
Currently waiting on final decision from rep council to see if Hive Pilani will receive any money to put towards the event
Support Requested and Provided
Provided Varun and his team Hive pop up templates from Hive Toronto, NYC and Chicago to help diversify the stations at the Maker Faire
In constant conversation with the team to get regular updates. Vineel will be representing the Hive and Mozilla
Followed up with Varun and the event was successful. Vineel, Amira, Michelle and I are connecting about providing a clearer overview of what a Hive event should like because of the issue with budgets.
Varun and I are connecting next week to discuss next steps and hosting their first community meeting.
