Add the “All” tab to the “My Library” page

This gives you a complete overview of your library. It allows you to see all your books at a glance, without having to switch between different tabs.

I also think this tab should be the default tab, because if you’re not reading any books at the moment the ‘Currently Reading’ tab appears empty (IMHO).

Yes, that’s why I think the same logic should apply to ‘My Library’ page. Don't you think so?

I guess I think library is more function, where profile is more of that "overview". I wouldnt see any issue with it being on "My Library", but not sure about default tab. I'd almost rather it just save last tab in the browser using client-side storage. So if I closed it on To be read, thats where it is next time I open "My Library".

To me this is quite a bit of a conundrum because we do not have that much space on mobile devices to have that many tabs that you might want to with the current design. Currently four on the library page and that is already one to many.

Maybe we should look into having it as a option so if you want an all tab you can, but then you can hide the did not finish tab?
Personally I don't want to see my non finished books 🙈

Should the currently viewed tab be saved so you get back to where you were? Yeah probably, this could easily also be a configuration option for those who do not like that functionality. We already store the tabs state in the url so you can bookmark a specific tab so this change would align with that.

I wanted to also point out that the Library and Profile pages does serve different functions, although at the moment they are quite similar. So it is natural for features between them to be different.

Options are always nice, but obviously its just "one more thing" to add. I get the idea of Profile vs Library. And I second the DNF view. I know lots of people that like to track that, I am not one of them. It will always remain 0 for me.

Mobile space IMHO, should be clean with very few things other than, looking up a new book, updating status of a book, or viewing your bookshelves. If I want to see more data, I will go to my computer.

The more I use the app, the more convinced I am that we need an ‘All’ tab here.

The button to edit your books only appears on that page . This means that if you want to update your library, keep it up to date or correct errors, you have to switch tabs to review all your books. I think the tab that lets you manage your entire library should allow you to see all your books at a glance.

On the other hand, I agree that the mobile interface doesn’t necessarily need to display all the options available on the web interface, but the solution shouldn’t be to 'remove' them, but rather to use methods that allow them to be grouped into drop-down buttons as the screen size decreases (IMHO).

In any case, I admit that I’m not a user interface professional, but simply a user who likes web applications with responsive designs. :)

Great points.

The actions button on each tab in the library have different options in them as a way to focus what the user wants to do on each tab and not have so many options it gets distracting.
It is possible I have missed to include the edit or other options in the relevant tabs. But to fix so edit exists on every tab is to me not the solution here.

Let's experiment with adding a All tab and have it configurable so if you don't want to have every tab visible (independent of what device you are on) you can turn them off.
A last visited tab configuration would fit nicely within this at least when I draw up the mockup in my head, but that can come later.

The management aspect of your library should definitely be easy.
UI / UX design is hard to get right, at least for me 😅 but we will get there 😊

I appreciate these types of discussions, they help with getting perspective and doing the right thing for this project.
