Audience / who is this for?

Operators and users of MeshCore-GOME who need to ensure their repeater(s) can be recovered, replaced, or migrated to new hardware without loss of identity or settings.

Scope and key points

• Document the process to backup repeater private key (prv.key), explicitly including the CLI commands:
  • Connect via USB and use get prv.key to download/export
• Explain the process to restore a repeater:
  • Restore key using set prv.key (again via USB connection)
  • Ensure restoration includes repeater name, radio settings, and passwords—describe any steps or caveats if these aren’t included by default
• Add a section for Windows users:
  • Note that copy/pasting the prv.key does not work reliably in Chrome/Edge serial consoles in-browser
  • Recommend using PuTTY for reliable clipboard transfer
• Add warnings or tips for safely storing and transferring the private key
• Highlight any prerequisites or special cases (e.g., hardware differences, firmware versions) if applicable
