Description
Feedstock transporters: considerations
Currently, there are not currently many general transport models that have a cost model or a more complex performance model. Suppose we have a water feedstock going to an electrolyzer, but the electrolyzer doesn't use all the water and the excess water (unused by the electrolyzer) is transported to some downstream source. We may want a transport model for the input water feedstock that is sized for the water available, and a downstream transport model that is sized for the excess water. The technology_interconnections it not (yet) able to easily handle this case, we can do the upstream pipe as:
['water_feedstock','electrolyzer','water','water_pipe']
But - we don't have a nice way to handle the downstream pipe.
This is just a consideration as we develop more transport models.
This arose in PR #433 for the iron transport model, which has a workaround for the downstream case.
