See build #619 for a preliminary implementation of highlights.

• highlights added via other Readeck clients displayed in added colors
• see Highlights option on overflow for a bottom sheet that shows all highlights, allows navigation to them. Ones with pencil icon have a note/annotation, but no support yet for seeing them yet, or add/edit/delete of notes; still researching the API support
• to add/edit/delete a highlight, use the standard text selection and pick Highlight from the pop-up menu then use displayed bottom sheet
• selecting any part of one or more existing highlights will result in color changes to or delete of all of them

Hi @NateEaton!

Not much to report it all works great, from what I could see! I added, deleted some highlights, navigated to a highlight list and browsed through them. The only thing I haven’t tested yet is highlights with notes because I don’t have any.

The only real remark I have is to maybe consider a different approach for deleting highlights. In other apps clicking once, anywhere on the surface area of a created highlight actually brings up the interface to delete or manipulate them. This is the case for both Readwise and Wallabag. So it may be simpler and more elegant to just use the short click for that purpose?

Right now the click on a highlight does register but it doesn’t do anything, the highlight just "pulses" from the touch effect. I get that preventing accidental presses is a consideration, but there could be a reason the other apps do it the way they do, worth thinking about it IMHO.

Try Build #626. Tap on a highlight to edit/delete. Can still select text to edit/delete including multiple highlights overlapped with selected text. Now shows selection highlights in the edit/delete dialog. The notes feature is read-only... the notes are embedded in the HTML not there isn't yet an API call to add or update them. Also, now instead of tap to edit bookmark title, tap the title in Detail dialog; can edit all the metadata, matching that new feature in Readeck 0.22.
