Auto login on session start

Hi, is it possible to configure sysc greet to login automatically without username and password on session start (boot)? I have disk encryption and use the same Password for my user and encryption so typing it twice is kinda annoying.

Hey mate. Interesting question, there is a way to skip login at boot via initial_session which is what greetd supports by default but this bypasses the greeter entirely on boot meaning that you won't actually see the greeter again (unless you logout at a later stage).

Is this what you were looking for or you want to see the greeter at boot, select a compositor etc then login via your pre-filled username?

Thats exactly what i meant but i guess i misunderstood the greetd docs i read.

Putting that aside your idea would really be a GREAT feature if you consider implementing it, youd have your first user already :)

initial_session in greetd skips the greeter entirely on boot. The requested feature — show greeter, pick compositor, then auto-login with pre-filled username — is distinct and tracked here.
