Mainline kernel version crash

Hi Ed,

I know this isn't an issue with the code base here, but just wanted to mention that the 2018 mainline changes you signed off on (aoe: convert aoeblk to blk-mq) causes a crash when the vblade gets disconnected. Someone has submitted a bug/patch there - bug id 212665 that I also used to get it working (I had to duct tape/superglue a version for redhat 8) last night. Any feedback about whether its a good fix or not would help - or helping get a mainline fix. I hope you're doing okay. Also, thanks for making this driver. Its been great to use, and I just wish it had become more adopted and used.

We just noticed your issue here, i was the one who reported https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=212665

We are still using aoe with this patch on debian with kernel 6.1, does it continue work for you?

Any help in getting this fixed upstream would be appreciated.

For reference i attached our proposed patch to fix the crash.

Hi Valentin,

I had to give up using RHEL 8 that summer due to another kernel driver that was broken and haven't revisited this issue yet. I should be soon now that I'm nearly done with migrating off RHEL7 and will start looking at RHEL9 for the next set of software/drivers we'll use. Thanks again for your patch though, it was very helpful, and it possibly might get used again lol.
