Corrupt fits file of SH0ES covariance matrix

Dear all,

I am trying to open the fits file of covariance matrix available in SH0ES_data directory. But when I try to open it with the astropy.io it is showing the file is corrupted. I have checked the data vector and other fits file, those are working but this covariance one seems to be corrupted. Could you please, check about it. And upload the working one file.

The covariance is a text file. Please try a text reader like open(‘filename’,’r’).readlines()

Dear Brout,

Thank you so much for the response. Actually the file had a .fits extension like this ‘BreadcrumbsDataRelease/SH0ES_Data
/allc_shoes_ceph_topantheonwt6.0_112221.fits’ that is why I was opening it with astropy because in the run_mcmc.py file which is given in this directory is also using astropy to open it. I will open it with txt editor and ask you if I face any issue. Thank you again for your response on this issue.

Oh I thought you were talking about a different covariance. That is indeed a fits file you mentioned in your previous message. I will get back to you with more information.
