Thank you for reporting this issue! We've confirmed the problem and submitted a fix.

The issue you described has been addressed - the application will now validate input values locally before attempting to contact the server, which saves resources and provides a better error message for invalid inputs.

The fix is now under review: CortexLM/cortex-cli#26
