Thank you for reporting this issue! We have confirmed the problem and submitted a fix.

The issue you described has been addressed - the application will now display a helpful warning message when a broadcast or other special network address is used with the serve command. This will make it easier to understand why certain addresses cannot be used for running a server.

The fix is now under review: CortexLM/cortex-cli#34
