additional newline above signature when replying (plain text mails)

There's a second newline above the signature (footer) when replying with a plain text mail.
It happens regardless of having the Add -- in plain text mail setting enabled or disabled.

 

Thunderbird-128 default:

> quote [...]
> last quote line

With SmartTemplate and the mentioned setting enabled:

> last quote line
