My name is Soham Babrekar, and I’m a Computer Science undergraduate interested in contributing to Rocket.Chat for GSoC 2026.

I have experience working with web technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) and a strong background in C++ and open-source development.
I’m particularly interested in projects involving real-time systems, scalable backends, and developer tooling, and Rocket.Chat’s open-source ecosystem and active community really motivate me to contribute and learn further.

I’d appreciate guidance on:

• Which Rocket.Chat repository is best to start with
• Any beginner-friendly or “good first issue” tasks
• Recommended setup and contribution practices for new contributors

Hi everyone,

I’m Mahmoud Elsoghayar, a Junior Electrical and Computer Engineering student,

I’m really excited about contributing to Rocket.Chat for GSoC 2026, specifically targeting the Embedded Chat project. My background is heavily focused on React/Next.js and Mobile UX, and I’ve previously built projects like Procode (an EdTech platform) and Wateera (Task Management) where I focused on scalable UI and performance.

What caught my attention in the Embedded Chat 2026 goals is the Pluggable AI Adapter Layer. I have hands-on experience bridging LLMs with user interfaces from my project MAID (an AI-powered file reader), and I’m eager to apply that to enhance accessibility and AI-driven interactions within the widget.

I’m already looking into the codebase and accessibility (WCAG) gaps. I would love to connect with the mentors to see which area I should prioritize for my initial contributions!.
