Blueprint looking for 'new', MQTT sending 'update'?

Brand new to Frigate, and am trying to set up HA notifications using the blueprint. The notifications aren't coming through (not even any traces), and now that I've dug into them some more it seems to be that the blueprint is looking for new events:

(There's also an end-type event after that one.)

I'm guessing I'm overlooking something dumb, but can anyone shed light on what that might be?

is frigate set to record? do you have alerts configured?

It looks ok. Unless you have some wird config with alerts in frigate you should be getting new events prior to the updates. It has to start as new

Shouldn't be any weird frigate config, and it's definitely not sending as new. I've had my test notification set up for a few days with no changes, and frigate is showing alerts but the notification has yet to fire.

The messages come from frigate though. So it definitely is starting with new. So why aren't you seeing them in mqtt?
