Copy text with mouse or keyboad from textual window in vscode.

I have an app that works fantastic on Windows with Windows terminal and cmd.exe. For cutting and pasting it is great....except in one place that is important. Windows Terminal in VSCode. The only thing that doesn't work is that I can't copy text from the the textual app running in the VSCode terminal window (windows terminal or cmd.exe).

Is there a hot key that I'm missing? Some other configuration? There must be a way to get the right keystrokes through to the terminal.

OK I figured out how to get this to work inside of VSCode

Alt-Shift to select -- while still selected (left button down) right click

This does solve the problem, but it is a bit of a pain...but appears to be a VSCode issue?
