Hi @xpe! Turing.jl is nearly a decade old and has 1000s of users, and thus renaming it now would be massively disruptive for little gain. |

Why name a probabilistic programming language (PPL) after Alan Turing? I don't know of any significant and specific connection. Turing's work was foundational for computing but unconnected to PPLs. Thus, the name of the project "Turing" feels arbitrary and confusing in this context. This naming choice is unclear and (IMO) misleading.
Some well-known people involved in developing PPLs include: David Spiegelhalter, Andrew Thomas, David Lunn, Nicky Best, Andrew Gelman, Bob Carpenter, Noah Goodman, Josh Tenenbaum, Dustin Tran.
There is an opportunity here to give the project a suitable name that serves the project and helps people understand its purpose quickly -- or at least not muddle things. I hope you consider re-naming the project.
