What confused you?
It took a couple of seconds for the map fill to appear. One thought would be for the screen to appear blank until users make a selection and then use a loading bar while it's processing - we did this for the LA tool.

When I clicked on the DC tooltip, it didn't show the percent white as I would have expected (and as we indicated in the tooltop instructions)

I feel like the sparkline chart is still a bit difficult to intuitively interpret. I think showing the years on the x axis would help, and perhaps labeling the y axis? I basically looked at the big 38 and wondered if that was a label for DC or the indicator value.

When I click on DC, it still says Focused Geography:National below the subtitle

These are good points.

1. I have added better cues and a loading bar which I will deploy for tomorrow
2. I think the sparkline should be removed, and the value box should communicate the value for the clicked geography
3. Focused geography: National still remains to be aligned with the filter. We should brainstorm on how we want those labels to change. I think the subtitle should be prefixed "Selected View" instead of "Focused Geography" and the clicked geography should appear below the subtitle or in the value box, to avoid confusing the user
