Reproduction steps

when i try to upload a stl file i select it but then nothing ends up happening just doesnt upload anything not sure what its about but this is a fail

nothing it just doesnt work

Thanks for the report.
The current stable version is 5.9.0 and I suggest you upgrade as you are 9 versions behind.

There is a problem that can occur (even in 5.9.0) when users have certain bluetooth devices connected to the computer (earbuds and such). If a bluetooth device is internally configured as a Serial Device, the Cura "USB Printing" plugin will assume it is a printer and keep attempting to communicate with it over and over again. That can keep Cura busy and it won't load models.
You can go to the Cura MarketPlace and click on the "Gear" icon. Scroll down and disable "USB Printing" and restart Cura. That might free up Cura to actually load the models.
That "USB Printing" problem has been previously reported so this may be a duplicate report. Let us know if disabling it fixes the problem.

There is a feature request to disable USB Printing by default but some older model UM printers need it and so it doesn't look like that will happen in the foreseeable future.
