On top of the additional near‑term features to consider, here are some more forward-leaning list of future initiatives, informed by community feedback from previous AI team chats:

• Agent-Style AI Interactions Using Abilities API: Build tools that demonstrate contextual, task-oriented AI actions like “explain post to me” or “draft a social media version.” source

• Ability to Reference User or Site Context: Leverage user metadata, internal links, or related posts to inform AI outputs; deeply contextual and platform-aware. source

• Dashboards for Plugin Building Blocks: Design templates or dashboards to help other developers mix and match building blocks when extending or experimenting with AI-enhanced experiences. source

• Multi-Provider AI Support (Cloud, Local, Browser): Fully enable flexibility in selecting the location of AI inference, on user devices (e.g., browser-based), cloud, or local (i.e., self-hosted). source

• AI UI for Classic Editor: Enable these features in both Gutenberg and Classic workflows for backward compatibility. source
