USB Host Mode on ESP32-S3 boards?

Does the library allow for USB Host Mode for ESP32-S3 boards that have USB OTG enabled?

Specifically I am trying to setup an ESP32-S3 with OTG USB to act as a serial monitor for Adafruit MCUs, over a single USB cable.

Board and Platform Info:

ESP32-S3 Board: m5stack Core S3
Framework: Arduino
IDE: Platform IO with VS Code

Can anyone please provide insight?

tinyusb core support host mode for s3, but I haven't tried to integrated it into this Arduino lib just yet. If you are willing to put effort you could get it running.

I've spent better over three days now trying to implement USB Host mode for Core S3, but always hitting roadblocks.

I'm not sure where to start with integrating your tinyusb host mode into the arduino lib to be honest. At this point that is above my capabilities as I'm still freshly learning about the architecture of esp-idf style RTOS.

Do you have any eta or idea of when or if you might try to integrate this into the arduino lib? It seems like it would be a very useful function for folks. Especially considering how much simpler the Arduino framework is to work in than esp-idf.

Integrating host stack to arduino-esp32 is not an easy task, that is why I haven't started doing so. You may need put a bit of effort even if you are familliar with both TinyUSB and arduino-esp32. You can start by compiling TinyUSB core stock example https://github.com/hathach/tinyusb/tree/master/examples/host/device_info and get familliar with how tinyusb should be initialized and run as host then migrate that to arduino-esp32
