"Error: cursor-agent exited with code 1" when using Cursor agent integration

Running on Linux, Cursor version 2.1.50, the client's post to http://localhost:5567/agent errors:

data: Thinking...

event: error
data: Error: cursor-agent exited with code 1

Not sure how to debug and would be great if the error returned the output from cursor-agent!

Hey! I took a look at the code and found the issue.

Right now, stderr from cursor-agent is only logged server-side (console.error) and never sent back to the client. So when it exits with code 1, you just get that generic error message with no context.

The fix would be to collect stderr and include it in the error response. Something like:

Error: cursor-agent exited with code 1
<actual stderr output here>

This should make debugging a lot easier. I can put together a PR for this if you'd like!
