mvn compilation error

Hi there,

on my machine (ubuntu 14.04) mvn package, did not work and kept giving Error about -source 1.3

after some Googling, I found the solution in below link to fix the problem:

which version of maven are you using? with maven 3, it is not giving this error.

Hi, I'm using maven 3.0.5, but I had still had to add that bit to specify the compiler version, it wouldn't compile otherwise.

I had the same issue. It did not compile without adjusting the pom.xml. I have the same 3.0.5 version on Ubuntu 14.04.

I added:

    <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
    <artifactId>maven-compiler-plugin</artifactId>
    <configuration>
        <compilerVersion>1.5</compilerVersion>
        <source>1.5</source>
        <target>1.5</target>
    </configuration>
