Getting 'you are pushing more gui clips thank you are popping', unity 6-33

Hey, thought id share, had the issue where couldnt import this package as it would lock up, spamming the GUI error above - basically commented out that check and resolved it, but thought I would share

when commented out here

able to see android extension features (before that it was flickering with above error)

aslo seems to be duplicating or making conflicting settings object

here is the behavoiur when uncommented, but yeah might be trying to read multiple settings or something like that, replicated on windows and mac

From your screenshot, it looks like you've imported this package : https://docs.unity3d.com/Packages/com.unity.xr.androidxr-openxr@latest/ rather than the Android XR Extensions for Unity package provided in this repo. Did you follow the installation and getting started steps from those docs?

Are there specific AR Foundation features you're trying to use?

I just made a new project from URP 3D template, imported the package from git repo link, and the whole thing locks up when I try to go to the OpenXR tab. I am using Unity version 6000.0.37f1

I'm encountering the same issue. Very similar steps. Just a clean unity VR sample and then importing the 0.9.0 release tarbar with package manager. Unity v6000.0.36f1

@jankleinert - good eye! I probably did go from having open xr first, but did a few permutations with same result, seemed to be either UI render bug that was spamming settings when rendering xr package settings asset, or possibly mismatch in naming of asset so it was parsing two - I went pretty deep on it poking around and sort of patched it, but then tried unity v 6.023 (or whatever it is in the docs)

They say 6.023 or above but found it needed to be exact and the issue went away, so maybe they introduced a breaking change (honestly I think it’s a different case style generating a second asset that is being parsed as the same)

Though you’ve got me thinking maybe going fresh like that I also installed the extension first … though I think I tried the extension only, but at that point I had the duplicate asset file which I didn’t know to look for (had to also delete both XRPackageSettings)

Point is rolling back to 6..23 resolved the issue, I’ll be at the dev day next week in LA if you’re around and want to chop it up, great SDK and all little hitches I’d expect.

@matteo411 @MattSich see above, tldr roll back to unity 6.0.23 and delete both XRPackageSetting assets or they’ll keep stitching you up. Hopefully all clear, writing on my phone and from memory, but wanted to give you answers ASAP cause I can imagine it’s a bit of a blocker.

If you’re screen is literally spamming just keep clicking x on project settings window till it cuts through the refreshing and closes that window.

Thanks @phoria-sam-tg ! I've confirmed that by switching to Unity 6000.0.23f1 the issue doesn't occur.

I was encountering the same issue and I found that changing the OpenXR version was more important than the Unity version. Specifically, using the exact version numbers in the Android XR documentation removed the bug in my case.

• Unity 6000.0.23f1 or newer
• AR Foundation 6.1.0-pre.3 or newer
• OpenXR 1.13 or newer

@jankleinert it looks like it's an issue with Unity's package. This section changed between 1.13.2 and 1.14.0:

The highlighted line looks to be the problem, and it's specifically when it's trying to load https://github.com/android/android-xr-unity-package/blob/main/Runtime/Features/XREnvironmentBlendModeFeature.cs.

Since openxrExtensionStrings is null, because no extensions are needed for this feature, targetField.GetValue(feature) returns null and hits the null ref when .Equals is called on it.
The check in the Unity code should probably check for non-null as part of that second condition. Something like
