❗️ Update: please note that this was originally intended to be a 3.5.0a1 prerelease that would include the important #3239 fix but what it proved to go out as 3.5.1 when published. If it breaks you just ensure you add molecule<3.5.0 until we stabilize the 3.5 branch.

Why was the pypi release not yanked to prevent unwanted updates if this release it still a pre-release?

It was a combination of factors, some people needed changes included in it and started using it right away. We also did not had a process for making backports to previous versions (now we have). I hope that answers your question.

Thanks. Well there were also the possibility to yank the 3.5.1 and release it again as 3.5.1b1 or whatever. This way people that really want to use it can use it, but new users will not get this "unstable" release installed...
