I am a student in CodePath's AI301 course and would be interested in working on this issue.

From my understanding, the goal is to add support for Backstage's New Frontend System to the Jaeger plugin by migrating it according to the frontend system migration guide and aligning it with other community plugins that have already completed the migration.

I would first review the current Jaeger plugin implementation and identify the changes needed to support the new frontend architecture. Then, I would work through the migration steps and validate that the plugin remains functional and compatible with the updated frontend system.

Before getting started, are there any known challenges or reference implementations that you would recommend looking at beyond the migration guide? I'd appreciate any guidance or feedback. Thank you!
