Is Beets suitable for automated transcodes / watch folder setup?

Hi folks, I have a very basic requirement but so far I’ve struggled to find a piece of software that can help me and I’m hoping that Beets is the solution.
I have an existing music library that is perfectly tagged and organised to my tastes, however it is predominantly Flac and I would like to use iTunes Match so that my family can ask Siri to play music via HomePods, the problem being iTunes Match doesn’t accept Flac.
What I’m looking for Is some software that will automatically recognise every time a new piece of music is added to my library, transcode it to mp3 or aac and put it In a new location, leaving the original library untouched.
Can beets do this for me, or something similar? I plan to install it on my server via a docker container.
