Kubernetes 1.28 went out of upstream support on 2024-10-28 (https://endoflife.date/kubernetes). As a consequence, vmware k8s 1.28 variants should no longer be included in future versions of Bottlerocket in releases. Following the Amazon EKS support policy, aws-k8s-1.28-* variants will continue.

We recommend you replace existing VMWare Bottlerocket K8s 1.28 nodes with a newer variant - ideally the latest your Kubernetes cluster supports.
