Performance issues with Sophisticated Backpacks (LegacyForge 1.20)

Hi, I'm playing on version:

Forge 1.20.1 - 47.4.0
Immersive Overlays - 1.4.7 (the same thing happens in version 1.4.6)

It turns out that when I have this mod running on the client side, RAM usage gradually increases until it reaches 90% of the RAM allocated to Minecraft, and the FPS starts dropping drastically.

At first, I thought it was another mod like Distant Horizon, but it's definitely Immersive Overlay.

After playing for about 1 or 2 hours in the worst-case scenario, sometimes it allows me to play longer if the world is new and there are no overlays on the screen.

I'm reporting this here because things only improve if I remove Immersive Overlays. Maybe some other mod conflicts with Immersive Overlays?

I'm testing the latest version of Immersive Overlays (1.5.0+1.20.1).

It seems I'm still having the same problem: the RAM usage won't go below 80%. The strange thing is, I started the game and joined my dedicated server, but I didn't play. I just moved my character to a safe location and then I went to touch grass outside the house. Then when I returned in about 2 hours, the RAM usage seemed fine, staying around 20%.

It wasn't until I started playing for about half an hour that the problem began. It wouldn't go below 30%, 50%, and finally above 80%.
It seems like something I'm doing in the game is causing it...

I asked the AI ​​what else it could do to detect what might be happening, and it suggested I do a heapdump. Would that actually help?

I don't see anything Immersive Overlays related in the log - it's using about 2% of the RAM checking the contents of the backpacks, which isn't ideal but there's not much I can do about that on my end and shouldn't be a concern. I've heard heap dumps can help, but don't know how to analyze them myself.

In fact, thanks to what you mentioned about backpacks, when we started playing Minecraft and had Immersive Overlays in the modpack, we didn't have any problems for days, until we made some backpacks from Sophisticated Backpacks...

I'm going to try making the config not read the backpacks, and I'll let you know if that doesn't happen again.

I can confirm that it seems to be related to how the backpack inventory is read.

I changed some things in the default configuration:

First test:
- "require_item_in_hand": false,
- "search_containers": false,
- "search_containers_for_containers": false,

I expected it to only read the player's inventory, or just the hotbar, but when I opened the backpack, detects the contents of the backpack and started using the items inside. This also caused the RAM to behave erratically.

Second test:
- "require_item_in_hand": true,
- "search_containers": false,
- "search_containers_for_containers": false,

I tested different items, placing them in my second hand for about two hours. The RAM behaved normally, so everything was fine.

Third test:
- "require_item_in_hand": false,
- "search_containers": true,
- "search_containers_for_containers": true,

I tried opening my backpack continuously for a few minutes. The RAM usage started hovering around 50% and then climbed to 60% without dropping below that level, all in less than 10 minutes.

Isn't there any way to prevent it from reading the backpack?
As I mentioned above, even with "search_containers" disabled, once the backpack is opened, it detects the items and places the overlays. Everything only works correctly when I enable "require_item_in_hand".

I would have liked to test if this only happened in the inventory or on the hotbar, but I haven't seen that option in the settings. (I might be wrong.)

In any case, Immersive Overlay definitely behaves strangely in my case when it starts checking the backpack.
