2025-09-16: Maintenance work meeting notes

For today's meeting, there were Morgan and Olle participating. We only did a few chores

• We deployed fix(logging): implement semantic logger #2342 to codebar-production, which gives us canonical log lines, which are much more usable and saves quite a few log lines, making us less likely to run out of our allowance in Papertrail Solarwinds
• Add sitemap generator #2349 - this prevents a lot of 404 Not found lines in our logs and paves the way for creating a populated sitemap.xml that search engines can use for easily finding content and knowing how often to re-index it
• chore: freeze postgres version for local #2354, which fixes a new issue with running planner locally in the Docker setup
• chore: lock gem platforms #2356, which configures the Gemfile.lock to only use precompiled versions of native gems. This speeds up install in all environments
• We started working on fully adopting the Rails 7.1 defaults in order to make the upgrade path to Rails 7.2 easier. Local install problems with postgres (see chore: freeze postgres version for local #2354) distracted us and we were not able to finish this work today.

We have also recently created a few new issues to work on:

• Generate sitemap.xml #2347
• Use Cloudflare CDN for static assets #2351
