I got Kai up and running with Claude Code. I'm not sure I fully understand the interaction model though.

When I type a prompt, does it go to Kai first and then to Claude from there? What is the keyboard command on a Mac for voice comnands to Kai? I can't find it in the docs. Thanks!

Kai is Claude with some custom instructions and some hooks.

the voice server is for voice output, not input. For input you can use something like MacWhisper.

First question was already answered above, for vice input, also checkout https://www.monologue.to/. Been testing a few and this one worked best for me.

So the flow is:
You → Kai → Claude Code → Kai → You

Kai is basically the assistant interface and Claude Code is the reasoning + coding engine behind it. There is no documented Mac keyboard shortcut specifically for “Voice Command to Kai.”
Kai uses your system’s microphone permissions, but Kai does NOT currently have a universal push-to-talk hotkey like Siri or Voice Control.
