Ran Export-DbaLinkedServer on a handful of servers to backup linked servers.
On some, it pulled the password in plain text, and others it returned -
"/* For security reasons the linked server remote logins password is changed with ######## */"
Same domain. Same linked server destination and SQL account being used. Two of the servers are in a AG cluster - it pulled the password in plain text on one, and not the other.
Just want to know what setting is enabling that or blocking it?
On the same server where PS can pull the password, if I script the linked server in SQL SSMS, the password is blocked out also.
I want to close this security gap if there is one.
