In http://github.com/own-pt/delphin-rdf we have implemented transformation of MRS, DMRS and EDS to RDF as a plugin for PyDelphin. In https://github.com/own-pt/wql we are working on the code for:

1. transform the WQL language into SPARQL
2. new web interface to replace the WSI (running version at https://wsi.mybluemix.net/demo/search.jsp)

Questions:

1. should we move these repositories to this organization?
2. I would like to starting have some inputs from the DELPH-IN community regarding the WQL language also cited as ERS fingerprints. Maybe calling the attention for issues in the WQL repository is the best way? Alternative? the forum http://delphinqa.ling.washington.edu?

Some questions for you to answer for yourself, but feel free to share:

1. Do you wish your lab or DELPH-IN to be associated with the development of the project? Some people may only look at the owner of the project and not the commit history, so this might be important for funding or tenure decisions, etc. It also hints at who is responsible for further development.

2. Are you hoping to hand over maintenance privileges to the DELPH-IN community? I say "privileges" and not "responsibilities" because being part of the organization does not guarantee stewardship by DELPH-IN, but it does allow others to push to the repo without your direct involvement.

3. Is this a cross-site collaboration, or primarily your own work?

Otherwise, the current owning organization, own-pt, is described as "Open Wordnet for Portuguese", which hardly seems appropriate for a DELPH-IN project, unless there was some kind of overlap, so I can see why you might want to move it.

Relatively few people are watching the wql project on GitHub, so just raising issues is unlikely to get much attention. I would ask on the forum, perhaps linking to any relevant issues.

good points, @goodmami:

1. not a big problem for me. We can always have a clear readme saying with citation and team. I am the main contributor in http://github.com/universaldependencies/UD_Portuguese-Bosque that is hosted inside the UD organization.

2. it would be fine, and I believe the DELPH-IN community will be acting as a whole to the best of the project. A contribution with a very different perspective can be made as a fork or a branch, but this is part of the community communication and good practices that we will be implementing in this platform.

3. this is hard to answer. I believe the community has some interest in that. In concrete terms, @emilymbender made clear after my presentation at the last summit that a search interface for treebanks is helpful, and @oepen helped me understand the WSI/WQL history. But it is hard to tell in advance if the community will embrace the tools. I guess it is nearly impossible to anticipate the community's acceptance. The only thing we can do is to do the best possible work.

I am also considering moving the https://github.com/LR-POR/delphin-docker from our Portuguese Language Resources Org to here.

The only fundamental difficulty that I can foresee is that, sometimes, working with students, it is much easier to make comments or discussions in Portuguese, which would not make sense in the DELPH-IN community space.

Thanks! Regarding (2), my intention is that by adding the project to the org, you won't necessarily be gaining contributors and most likely (speaking from personal experience with the delph-in org) it will languish unless you maintain it yourself. At least, you can make it a bit easier for other DELPH-IN members to participate by moving it to the organization.
