Adding Spektrum Avian Smart ESC Telemetry

Hi, i have a Spektrum Avian Smart Lite ESC (SPMXAE85A version) but some features (telemetry, reverse, ecc) only work with a Spektrum receiver (I have one available for testing).

I have a cheap saleae logic 8ch analyzer, but if i understand correctly msrc has a build in monitor mode, right?
Any advice for providing a dump?

Some infos:

• The esc connects to the receiver using the standard 3-pin "servo" plug (pwm or "SMART Throttle", 5v,gnd).
• The other plug is for programming only
• The esc don't use SRXL2.

Yes. MSRC has a serial monitor at gpio5. I believe this esc has to be in srxl2 mode to send telemetry.

Select Receiver protocol -> Serial monitor at 115200 (or 400000). Connect the esc and specktrum receiver to msrc as described below:

Power MSRC first and enable debug in msrc_gui. Post output.

You are right, this ESC uses SRXL2.
The support team told me by email that it does not use SRXL2, but at this point, I think they might be wrong.
I will post the output asap.

The first is an esc packet (id 0x20).

The other packet has an id 0x42, which is not defined in xbus/srxl2 specs, but we can figure out what its structure is with the sensors you provided. It should be defined in edgetx also.

It should be ch1.
On the rx the throttle (smart or pwm) is on ch1.
If i remember correctly multi module remaps edgetx channel (ch3) to spektrum (ch1)

I've created a branch, smart_esc, with a preliminary version for smart esc and battery. For now it is implemented only for smartport.

Download firmware and msrc_gui from binaries.

Select ESC Protocol -> Smart ESC/BAT
Select Receiver protocol -> Smartport

Connections (don't use the circuit from msrc_gui):

• Connect smartport to gpio 0&1. Resistor not needed.
• Connect smart esc to gpio 4&5. Resistor not needed.
• Connect throttle signal to gpio 12.
• Connect common ground.

Remove blades for security.

Enable debug and then power the esc & frsky receiver.
