Description

Can't install a certicate in MITM Proxy.

Steps to Reproduce

Proxy -> MITM Proxy -> Start (with sudo)

shown error: "Certificate install failed"

I tried to regenerate a new certificate but the error persists.

Expected Behavior

MITM Certificate Installed with success.

Actual Behavior

Certificate install failed

Test Impact

Needs a new unit test

But, I cant install this certificate.

Note: I had no problems installing a certificate with 9router; the issue is only with omniroute.

Hey @dannycoin! Thank you for reporting this.

v3.8.0 includes significant MITM improvements via PR #1999 (fix(mitm): add Linux cert install and skip sudo password when root), which adds proper Linux certificate installation support.

Could you please:

1. Upgrade to v3.8.0 when available and retry the MITM certificate installation
2. Share the exact error output from the certificate install attempt (the terminal output)
3. Confirm your sudo configuration — are you running as root or a regular user?

The MITM cert install on Ubuntu typically requires update-ca-certificates to be available. If you're using a minimal Docker container, this package may be missing.

This has been fixed in v3.8.0 with two improvements:

1. PR fix(mitm): add Linux cert install and skip sudo password when root #1999 — Added proper Linux certificate installation support and sudo password bypass when running as root
2. PR Feat/dynamic linux cert paths #2134 — Added dynamic Linux certificate path detection for multi-distro support (Debian/Ubuntu, Arch/CachyOS/Manjaro, Fedora/RHEL/CentOS, openSUSE) plus NSS database injection for browser trust

Please upgrade to v3.8.0 and retry the MITM certificate installation. If you still experience issues, feel free to reopen with the exact error output!
