Does the Homebrew installation really require Rosetta?

I've just installed Theia on a Mac via Homebrew, and it throws a warning:

theiaide is built for Intel macOS and so requires Rosetta 2 to be installed.
You can install Rosetta 2 with:
  softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license
Note that it is very difficult to remove Rosetta 2 once it is installed.

Now, I am actually on an Intel, so doesn't matter to me personally, but I'm wondering whether this is really the case now that we're on M3?
