View: Toggle Render Whitespace causes caret to go back to last position when the file was saved

I regularly use View: Toggle Render Whitespace (built in vscode command) and bound it to a hotkey, and noticed that triggering it started to move my caret back to the position it was at when I saved the file, I did an extension bisect and found that this extension caused this bug
